RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

My hotel for the next few months is in Parker...over on Cottonwood Drive. Email me (richardbshapiro AT gmail.com) or private message me here if you can hook up any evening! Right now at 7:48am Friday, it's cloudy, and has bee a little chilly. Supposed to rain/snow this weekend. But, it's Denver, could be in the 80's next week. SNOW????? sigh........ :E

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Welcome to Denver Gringo! Thanks Payloader! I hope we can get together for a beer at least! Gringo - planning on riding at all when you are out here? Hi Rocky - I hope we can get together also! I will be there from this Monday through the New Year, but am going to be flying home for weekends (fly in Monday/out Friday schedule). HOWEVER, there will be opportunity to take a day off or two over the next few months and I would LOVE to ride. Got any suggestions? Payloader/Rocky: What is the weather like now?

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

You keep your motorcycle in Toronto? No. The bike stays in Miami. My GF is in Toronto. Given the choice of playing with her or playing with the scoot............... http://www.pch.gc.ca/progs/cpsc-ccsp/images/canada_flag.gif

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

2005 RKC here and the battery died. Where is the best place to get a battery from an internet site? The dealer wants $161.57 for a battery. Thought I could get one for a more reasonable price. thanks. Don't go thru the Internet... shipping restraints on batteries make it almost impossible and/or very expensive to ship one to you. However, do yourself a favor: BEST PLACE FOR automotive batteries I don't know which one fits the bike, but go there and they will tell you.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Gringo, Can you rent one??? He can't find one with enough Chrome!!!!;) LOL... I actually asked at Warr's Harley Davidson (here in London). Check it out HERE A few things..first it is VERY pricey (multiply those prices times two to get US dollars roughly - then add taxes, taxes and taxes) Second - they ain't got no touring bikes... as one of the guys in the shop said to me "We don't have your open roads mate" Third.. this is London.. the City is even more crowded than Noo Yawk if you can picture it. Last.. and NOT least.. THEY DRIVE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD. Scares the******out of me :E :E :E (I don't drive here, I take taxis and trains everywhere).

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I didn't know anyone had actually built one. The Guy who designed it had just did the CG video. Cool. I think they built a non working prototype.. but who cares? It is super cool...LOL.. (this is what happens when you are stuck in London for a few months!) I finally get to go home on Saturday... been on the road way too long!

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

In case you are wondering.. it's a Yamaha.. and its real! "The Deus, powered by Doped NanoPhosphate batteries and ultra-capacitors, has an in-wheel motor that could supply ample torque to deliver a driving acceleration of 60 mph in 3 seconds. Recharge time is 15 minutes with a cycle time of 60 minutes, top speed, limited for now, at 75 mph." from the write up. http://www.greencardesign.co.uk/site/img/item_img/full_size/AC_Deus_5.jpg

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

HOOO RAYYYYYY !!! I get to go home tomorrow!!! Been here in the UK for three solid weeks now and had a very successful trip.. but enough is enough for now. I get to go to Canada to see my Sweetie.. then I will go to Miami for a few days (in about two weeks) and visit my motorcycle -- It has two wheels and chrome stuff on it if I remember correctly. Not sure I remember the color though. ;) This is the longest I have gone without riding in YEARS... it sucks! Not sure where I go next..thats up to my company. But for now, I can assure you I will be with my Gal, and we ain't seeing daylight for DAYS. :B

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Lion It takes a ton of adjusting to get the pegs right. I fussed with them for ride after ride, until I finally got them right. I almost gave up a few times! But now that I have them right.. they are a pleasure. FYI I have short legs.. 29" Take your time with them.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I am not the only guy here who owns virtually every kind of cleaner and wax there is on the market, am I? What have y'all found to clean the chrome wheels and spokes. (Next bike will have something easier to clean!!) Larry... welcome to the forum! We are all certifiably nuts here.. but it works out somehow.. LOL As for cleaners - you can always do what I do... ride in the rain! It replaces the old dirt with new, and is a heck of a lot easier than washing and waxing!! ;) Ride it - clean it ONLY when the sweetie refuses to ride anymore! Welcome aboard!
